"Life’s not about waiting for the storm to pass..
Its about learning to dance in the rain."

    Facing the Facts
“We are pulled, Gentle One, like a turkey wishbone in this balancing act of illness. We ping-pong between accepting and denying, giving up and fighting. Give us strength to find and face facts, for there is freedom and power in knowledge. Help us understand that accepting is not throwing in the towel; rather, through grace, accepting is like going to the bank to withdraw our savings...our spiritual, mental and physical resources. As we make the transaction, we know You are our endless, bottomless, forever source."

Surrender
melting into the well worn pockets of my bed
my body attains a certain sense of weightlessness
floating as it were on a feathery cloud of white flannel
it implores that the fine print
in my agenda
be deferred to another day
when energy or resolve
are replenished

Self Preservation
fatigue
heavier than a dense fog
enveloping a windswept tree
bending slender limbs downward
every cell in my body sags
I cannot defy gravity’s call
I surrender for the sake
of self preservation

TO BE OF THE EARTH IS TO KNOW

To be of the earth is to know-
The restlessness of being a seed-
The darkness of being planted-
The struggle towards the light-
The pain of growth into the light-
The joy of bursting and bearing fruit-
The love of being food for someone-
The scattering of your seeds-
The decay of the seasons-
The mystery of death-
And the miracle of birth and rebirth.

John Soos, from Earth Prayers
